Wood Flower

No Wood Flower show is complete without captivating vocals, tight harmonies, blazing duel Tony Rice inspired guitar leads, driving Scruggs style banjo, rousing bass solos and soulful mandolin lines, all topped off by fun and spontaneous banter!

Formed in the summer of 2022 between former guitar student (Wes Johnson) and his teacher from nearly a decade before (Josh Sceurman), they invited Reading PA native, and long time friend of Josh's, Michael Beaky to pick the five string. Wes's high school buddy Gabe Delp joined the outfit shortly there after on the guitar as well. Wood Flower set out to strongly honor traditional bluegrass music while incorporating both original compositions and modern elements into their own unique sound.

"That's Grass!"

Wood Flower's excellent musicianship quickly won them loyal fans. Only six weeks after their first-ever performance, they opened for the legendary bluegrass band The Seldom Scene at The Sellersville Theater in Pennsylvania. Shortly there after, Wood Flower was selected as a Phillybluegrass.com “Top 10 Act” twice in 2023, for both their winter and summer charts, the only non-National act to be chosen.

In June of 2023, Philadelphia's premier online outlet for tourism (Visitphilly.com) noted Wood Flower as "rising stars" in an article promoting the bands' final performance at The Heritage's "Bluegrass Brunch" in Philadelphia.

Over the past year, Wood Flower has entertained audiences at festivals and venues such as The Podunk Bluegrass Festival, Wind Gap Bluegrass Festival, Dogfish Head Brewery, and Godfrey Daniels. The band is excited to release a studio album of original and traditional songs in early 2024.
